Initial Thoughts

Is there any solid biblical basis regarding open air evangelism? Does Jesus even imply that we should make tracts and try to shove them down strangers faces in a country where we don't even speak the language? I just keep hearing Him say, "feed my sheep" take care of the fatherless the widow the oppressed, and that is the way to know him and show his love. How does open air evangelism fit?
